Looking for a new car? Amazon has got you covered.
No, Amazon is not getting into the business of selling cars. They have just launched a new section of the site that will help people looking for a new car to get more information on what is currently available. The new section called “Amazon Vehicles” went online on Thursday.
Amazon does not sell cars and has no plans to start selling them. They do sell millions of car parts and other accessories. They believe that like other products on the site, users will leave reviews which will help others make decisions when buying a car. This way Amazon will be one stop location of information on new cars or when buying accessories for the car. Clearly that is they key here, they want to push their vehicle accessories:
“Amazon Vehicles is a great resource for customers who are interested in car information or looking for a broad selection of parts and accessories — all enhanced by the ability to tap into the knowledge, opinions and experiences of other car owners within the Amazon customer community,” said Adam Goetsch, director of automotive at Amazon.com.
Although the online retail giant says it has no plans to sell cars, car dealerships should be worried. Just as it has shown with computing resources (AWS) and its upcoming Amazon Air initiative to haul its own cargo around, Amazon is not shy to first do market research and then aggressively go after new markets.
