Let’s face it: it gets pretty annoying if you have to search again for that restaurant that you just found on Google just an hour or two ago.
To prevent this, it is a good idea to star such items so that they are saved inside Google Maps and which can be recalled later, if necessary.
In fact, along with finding your starred items in the Android app of Maps, you can also find starred items on the web as well as in the iOS versions of Maps as well.
If you’re not sure how to go about this, when you look for any place, using either the standard Google Search or even Maps, you’ll find a star at the top-right of the venue’s card. Touch the star and it will turn into yellow to indicate that it has been saved – not very different from Gmail.
So, the next time you use Google Maps, you’ll see a star at that venue’s location and which will give you a visual reference when you are panning or zooming inside the map.
If you want see all your saved place, touch the Slide Menu (indicated by the three horizontal ‘hamburger’ lines on the upper left part of your screen) and then select Your Places. This will throw up a complete list of places and if you want to see one spot, just touch it and this venue will be display on the map itself.
Of course, if you save too many venues, opening Google Maps will seem cluttered. So, it’s a good idea to cut down the number of venues you’ve saved. For this, tap the star again so as to un-save them.
