While other aspects of Windows 8 might not be up to the mark, there are no complaints with File Explorer.
One good reason for this is because of the use of the Ribbon interface that improves navigation greatly. However, one can make further improvements if they’d like by simple tweaks.
So, here are 3 tweaks to improve your File Explorer experience:
#1: The Quick Access Toolbar
If you look at the upper left-hand corner of the File Explorer window, you’ll find a tiny arrow next to the icon, which you can use to enable certain functions. One such function would be a Delete icon which is only accessible when you view the Home tab. Another option, of course, would be to place it in the Toolbar that you can access with a single click.
#2: Display All Folders
For the sake of compactness, Explorer displays an abbreviated list of your folder in the left-hand navigation pane. If you want to see everything, then all you have to do is click the View tab and Navigation pane icon. After that, click “Show all folders”.
#3: Improve your View of Folders
Another change that can improve your experience of File Explorer is adjusting Explorer’s default view of files. It should be pointed out that Explorer now gives you a preview of what a view of each file could look like so that they do not get confused.
All you have to do is click the View tab and move your mouse over the options in the Layout such as Extra Large Icons, List and Details etc. You can see how the file is viewed in the file area. If you like what you see, you just have to click on the setting to implement it.
