It’s probably during the holidays that we often pull out childhood videos or even family albums to share these moments with the people we are closest to.
Of course, you can get someone else to do this but in most cases, you have all the equipment need to do this by yourself.
So, here’s how you digitize your favorite photographs and videos so as to share it with your family:
#1: Pick a photo scanner
Just any photo scanner manufactured over the last five years or so will help you make a digital copy of the photos that you might have. All you have to remember is that the machine has to have a flatbed scanning surface as opposed to the sheet feeder variety. The latter might cause old prints to jam destroying the photo in the process. Two excellent options include Epson Perfection V550 and the HP Envy 120.
#2: Upgrade photo editing software
While iPhoto or even the Windows built-in app isn’t really the best, Adobe Photoshop Elements 12 tends to be the best solution for home photo editing. Now you have the best tools (even for novices!) that can help you prepare your photos before sharing them online.
#3: Convert your analog videos to digital
Most of the analog video formats such as Super 8, VHS or even Betamax tends to decline in quality over time. Hence, it is imperative that you convert them into digital as soon as possible. For this, you will still need the camera or video player capable of converting the original format. After that, you can pick a digital video converter such as PInnacle Dazzle Platinum HD or the Roxio Easy-VHS-to-DVD to convert these videos.
