How to Download Your Entire Google Search History

Not long ago, Google has added another option to its Takeout service and that explicitly allows you to download data from your Google account.

In this case, the option involves being able to download your Google account history.

Apart from your email, there is no other type of Google service that is more revealing of who you are than your search history.

This personal collection of keywords can tell people when you were sick, looking for a new job, your relationships or the last vacation you were planning.

So, if you want to know how you can download you Search History, here’s how:

Since Google hasn’t added this download option to the Takeout dashboard and so you’ll have to go to the Google History page to get your search archive.

Once you’re on this page, click the settings cog and then select ‘Download’. Next, you have to read a disclaimer and which gives you a list of precautions so as to keep your downloaded data safe.

Once you’re done reading Google’s warning, then click ‘Create Archive’ and then Google will do so while notifying you by email.

That said, how long it takes to get that notification email entirely depends on how large your archive is. Once you get it, you can choose to view it either in Google Drive or directly in Gmail itself.

If you choose the former, then Google Drive will create a folder Takeout where you can look through its contents that are in the HTML files and which throw up a summary of JSON files in your search history.
