With Windows 10, you can not only change your default browser but also the apps that you use to read email, view photos, listen to music and so much more.
For this, open the Start menu and then go to Settings. After this, select System and after which, Default apps. This is where you can change Web browsing, default calendar, mapping, email, music, video and photo default apps.
In order to set a default app, tap the current default app’s name. This will throw up a menu with the apps that have been installed and which will handle each task. Now, pick the app that you want to use for each of these tasks. Windows 10 will finish the rest.
Of course, if you don’t have a Default app set already, a sign ‘Choose a default’ will appear in the place of an app and its related icon. If you want you can look for new apps to use from the Store by selecting the option ‘Look for an app in the Store’.
Also, if you ever want to return to the original defaults, then you can select the “Reset to the Microsoft recommended defaults” and hit Reset. Until now, it is pretty easy but there’s more than you can do if you want to change default app too.
For example, you might want to change default app by file type, then scroll down and hit ‘Choose default apps by file type’. You’ll get a long list of file types and apps to open them. Now scroll down and select to the default file type.
Apart from this, you can also select the default protocol type that you want associated with this app which can be very useful if you want to set your default FTP client. For this, select ‘Choose default app by protocol’.
